Montague is a township in Sussex County, New Jersey, occupying the state's far northwest corner in the Skylands region. It is the northernmost municipality in New Jersey and the only one that borders both New York and Pennsylvania, sitting along the Delaware River near Port Jervis, New York, and Matamoras, Pennsylvania. Its population was 3,792 at the 2020 census, spread across roughly 45 square miles — one of the lowest densities in the state.
