Morris County River Borough

Farms & Ranches in Lincoln Park, NJ

Welcome to Lincoln Park, the Morris County borough along the Passaic and Pompton rivers, named for Abraham Lincoln and built around parks and a small-town feel.

Lincoln Park is a borough in Morris County, New Jersey, situated in the easternmost corner of the county, where it borders both Essex and Passaic counties along the Passaic and Pompton rivers. The area was settled in the eighteenth century as part of the larger townships of Morris County, and its riverside location at the junction of the Passaic and Pompton rivers, historically known as "Two Bridges" or "the Fork of Passaic," appears in Revolutionary War correspondence and was used as a wartime campsite. The borough was incorporated on March 11, 1922, formed from parts of Pequannock Township, and was named for President Abraham Lincoln. Today Lincoln Park is a compact, largely residential borough of roughly 10,900 people. U.S. Route 202 runs through it as the primary road, connecting residents to Montville and Wayne, while the surrounding river system and preserved open space give the borough a greener, less densely developed character than many nearby North Jersey towns. The Passaic and Pompton rivers frame its edges, and the Great Piece Meadows and other floodplain lands to the south and east remain largely undeveloped, keeping substantial open space close to the borough's homes. The borough's housing is predominantly single-family, and its neighborhoods radiate from the Route 202 corridor toward the rivers. Parks, a community lake with seasonal swimming and kayaking, and a network of recreation programs give the town a family-oriented feel, while its schools and its NJ Transit rail station on the Montclair-Boonton Line support a commuter lifestyle. Lincoln Park attracts households seeking a Morris County address with convenient access to the region's employment centers and a quieter, riverside setting than neighboring urban boroughs, all within easy reach of Wayne, Montville, and the broader Passaic County area.
