Lawrence Township occupies a central position in Mercer County, New Jersey, between Princeton to the north and Trenton, the state capital, to the south. The township counted about 32,300 residents in recent census estimates and functions as an outer-ring suburb of New York City while sitting directly against the edge of the Philadelphia metropolitan area — a position that places it in the Philadelphia media market and makes it a genuine crossroads of the two regions.
