Harmony Township occupies the gently rolling farmland of western Warren County, New Jersey, a short distance from the Delaware River and the Pennsylvania state line. It is a small, deliberately rural community of about 2,500 residents whose landscape is defined by working farms, hayfields, horse pastures, and scattered woodlots rather than dense development. Incorporated on April 8, 1839, from portions of Greenwich and Oxford townships, Harmony predates many of the region's larger municipalities and has retained much of the agricultural character that shaped its early history. The township's eastern edge is anchored by the Merrill Creek Reservoir, a 650-acre artificial lake built to hold water for downstream power generation and surrounded by a 290-acre environmental preserve and roughly 2,000 additional acres of protected woodland and fields. Education is provided by the Harmony Township School District, a single pre-kindergarten-through-eighth-grade school, with students continuing on to Belvidere High School through a sending/receiving relationship.
