Haledon is a borough in Passaic County, New Jersey, on the hills immediately above the city of Paterson. With a population of about 9,000, it is a compact, largely residential community that shares a border and much of its daily life with its larger neighbor. That legacy gives Haledon a place in the broader story of Paterson's silk industry and remains an active educational institution. Haledon also has a notable educational footprint. Manchester Regional High School, which serves Haledon, North Haledon, and Prospect Park, is located in the borough, and parts of William Paterson University's large campus in neighboring Wayne extend into Haledon and North Haledon.
