Gilded Age Estate Borough

Houses in Florham Park, NJ

Welcome to Florham Park, a Morris County borough built around a Gilded Age Vanderbilt estate, with tree-lined neighborhoods, a strong school system, and easy access to Routes 24 and 287.

Florham Park is a borough in Morris County, New Jersey, located in the north-central part of the state near Madison and Morristown. Home to about 12,600 residents, it incorporated in 1899 as a residential community centered on one of the most storied properties in the region. The borough takes its name from Florham, the 800-acre Gilded Age country estate built in the 1890s for Hamilton McKown Twombly and his wife, Florence Adele Vanderbilt. The name blends the couple's first names, and the estate's mansion and grounds were among the grandest of the Vanderbilt family's New Jersey holdings. The property today forms the Florham Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University, preserving the estate's historic buildings and landscaped grounds within a working academic setting. Florham Park has since grown into a comfortable, largely residential borough known for its tree-lined streets, sizeable lots, and strong local schools. The Florham Park School District educates students through eighth grade, after which they attend Hanover Park Regional High School, which also serves neighboring East Hanover and Hanover Township. The borough's housing leans toward established single-family homes, with a smaller share of townhomes on its northern side. Residents benefit from a central location with easy driving access to Routes 24, 287, and 78, and although the borough has no rail station of its own, the NJ Transit Morristown Line stops at nearby Madison and Convent Station, providing a direct rail corridor toward New York City. With its blend of Gilded Age history, suburban comfort, and commuting convenience, Florham Park attracts families, professionals, and retirees seeking a quieter Morris County setting.
