Florham Park is a borough in Morris County, New Jersey, located in the north-central part of the state near Madison and Morristown. Home to about 12,600 residents, it incorporated in 1899 as a residential community centered on one of the most storied properties in the region. The borough takes its name from Florham, the 800-acre Gilded Age country estate built in the 1890s for Hamilton McKown Twombly and his wife, Florence Adele Vanderbilt. The name blends the couple's first names, and the estate's mansion and grounds were among the grandest of the Vanderbilt family's New Jersey holdings. The property today forms the Florham Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University, preserving the estate's historic buildings and landscaped grounds within a working academic setting.
